Brief

The Bureau of Engineering has submitted parcel map documentation (L.A. No. 2018-1739) related to 9000 North Canby Avenue, along with an associated contract (C-147050). The file was referred to Council on July 8, 2026, and remains in the early stage of review. The substantive purpose and scope of the parcel map action are not yet detailed in available Council records.

Full summary

The Bureau of Engineering is asking the City Council to approve the final parcel map for a small residential subdivision at 9000 North Canby Avenue and 18424-18425 West Sunburst Street, south of Nordhoff Street, in Council District 12. The subdivision, owned by Kandiah Perinpanathan, would divide the property into three single-family lots. The preliminary map was conditionally approved by the Deputy Advisory Agency back in May 2019, and those conditions have since been met, including payment of the Recreation and Parks Fee. The subdivider has also paid a $9,064 processing fee, and no additional City funds are required. Alongside the final map, the Bureau is transmitting a Subdivision Improvement Agreement and Contract with security documents, which legally guarantee that the subdivider will construct any required public improvements. The Advisory Agency has determined the project will have no significant environmental impact. Under California Government Code Section 66458, the Council is required to approve or disapprove the map at its next regular meeting after receiving it. If the map conforms to all conditions of the tentative approval — which the Bureau of Engineering indicates it does — Council must approve it. If Council takes no action within the prescribed timeframe and the map meets all requirements, it is deemed automatically approved. Once Council signs off, the final map goes to the County Engineer for recording. The tentative map approval expires May 16, 2028. As of July 8, 2026, the file has been referred to Council and no vote has yet been recorded.
